The S&P 500 Oil & Gas Refining & Marketing Index has climbed 108% over the past 12 months to about 3,250, near record highs. The index tracks large U.S. refiners, marketers and transporters. This is the biggest 12-month gain since the post-2020 recovery; only 2013 and 2005 produced comparable 30-year performances. Refining and marketing stocks are up 175% since April 2025, and markets are positioning for a strong upswing in U.S. refining.
