Local time Aug 30, a ferry capsized 2 km north of Kyrenia port in the Turkish Cypriot-controlled area. Turkish Cypriot authorities say 7 people have died and 23 remain missing; 237 of 267 aboard (259 passengers, 8 crew) were rescued. The vessel was en route to Tasucu, Turkey. Search-and-rescue operations are ongoing.
