CENTCOM said on July 16 the U.S. Marine Corps' 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded and inspected a tanker in the Gulf of Oman. As of now, U.S. forces have forced three merchant vessels attempting to breach the blockade to alter course, disabled one non-compliant vessel and boarded another to ensure full compliance with the U.S. maritime blockade on Iran. The Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters remain open except to vessels attempting to break the blockade.
