The South Korean government says it expects to build four semiconductor fabs in the southwest with about 800 trillion won of investment; Samsung Electronics will build two new fabs and SK Hynix two. It forecasts at least 30 trillion won of chip-sector investment over the next 15 years, targeting next‑generation memory, edge AI and defence applications.
