U.S. Treasury Secretary BESSENT on Thursday warned Oman not to participate in Iran’s threatened tolling scheme for the Strait of Hormuz. He said the U.S. government will not tolerate attempts to impose such a toll and that the Treasury will harshly sanction any entities or individuals, direct or indirect, who assist the scheme; partners acting as accomplices would be punished. He urged all countries to resist Iranian moves to disrupt the key shipping lane and said the days of Tehran intimidating the region and the world are over.
